That's very kind of you. Let's just say I'm in a place in my life where I find it really hard to find opportunities for anything of a more intimate nature, I suppose.

Periodically, I can fully relate to that description. I'm not bitter enough to assure you being alone is preferable, but sometimes no relationship does outmatch a bad one.

Sometimes. And sometimes, it isn't at all. It's the shift from one to the other that feels like it's killing me, if I'm completely honest. I wish it would either be or not be.
